Ziptie fixes aren't very common here. Usually our damaged (race) cars are emergency repaired with duct tape (it's often called Jesus tape here because it creates miracles) and pop riveting.
I once owned a retired race car and parked it in public accessible area (it wasn't in running condition). People kept stealing my hood pins. I tried to tie the hood down with a computer power cable. Then the entire hood was stolen...

Growing up in rural america does have some advantages, like easy access to bailing wire. My friends and I "fixed" a lot of things with bailing wire. My favorite was using the wire to string up the exhaust on a VW rabbit right before my friend used it as a trade in on a Ford Fiesta.
